How to Fish It
Snell or tie the hook to a leader suited to your catfish setup. Check that the knot seats cleanly at the eye and test the connection before adding bait. Match the bait portion to the hook, leaving the point and gap exposed rather than packing the curve full.
Let the fish take up tension, then reel steadily as the rod loads. Avoid a sharp, sweeping hookset; steady pressure allows a circle hook to rotate into position. Maintain tension during the fight, and inspect the hook and leader after landing a fish or contacting structure.
Care and Handling
Dry used hooks before storage and keep them separate from unused stock. After saltwater exposure, rinse with fresh water and dry thoroughly. Replace hooks with bent points, damaged eyes, or corrosion, and secure exposed points when handling or transporting rigs.
