The Flymen Next FeatherLite Changer is an articulated, Game Changer-style baitfish fly constructed from natural feathers — producing a fly that is dramatically lighter than a craft fur or synthetic Game Changer of the same size, with a lifelike, fully articulated body action that fires in the slightest current and produces a continuous, swimming undulation throughout the retrieve and during the pause. Built on Flymen’s Next Generation Shank (NGS) system using stainless spring steel shanks and Kona hooks with a high-quality black-nickel finish for fresh and saltwater durability. Why Natural Feathers Change the Game Changer

The original Game Changer design — and the majority of articulated baitfish streamers — uses craft fur, marabou, or synthetic fibers as the primary body material. These materials produce excellent action and a realistic baitfish profile, but they absorb water and add mass during the cast — an effect that accumulates across a full session of casting and that makes large articulated streamers one of the most physically demanding presentations in freshwater and saltwater fly fishing. Natural feathers — the material used in the FeatherLite Changer — are inherently hollow, which means they are dramatically lighter than wet craft fur or marabou, they shed water on the back cast rather than holding it, and they do not increase in weight from the first cast of the day to the last. The result is an articulated fly that can be cast on a lighter rod than its profile would suggest, that presents accurately at distance without the casting fatigue of a saturated fur-body fly, and that can be fished all day without the arm fatigue that heavy articulated streamers produce on a six-hour float trip or a full day of wading. The feather fibers also produce a finer, more translucent body profile than craft fur at equivalent body diameter — feather barbs separate and pulse independently in the water rather than moving as a single mass, producing a more complex, higher-frequency movement at slow retrieve speeds and in low-current conditions where thicker materials move less convincingly.

Articulated Body Action — What Makes It Work

The FeatherLite Changer is built on multiple interconnected NGS shanks that allow each segment to flex and rotate independently as the fly moves through the water. This full-body articulation produces a sinusoidal, S-curve swimming action on the strip — the same body motion that a swimming baitfish produces naturally — that a standard single-hook streamer cannot replicate regardless of the materials used. The feather body enhances this action by providing a low-mass, high-movement material that responds to the slightest water displacement between segments: even minimal current flowing through the fly produces visible, independent movement in each section, which means the FeatherLite Changer is an active, swimming fly even when the angler is not stripping. Hook Configuration Guide

• Large Single Hook 4/0 — the largest, simplest configuration; a single 4/0 Kona hook at the rear of the fly; most effective for targeting large fish where maximum hook gap and single-hook hookup reliability are the priority; for large trout in trophy streamer fisheries, large redfish, and striped bass where a trailing double hook would create tangles in heavy current or structure; also the cleanest-swimming configuration that produces the most fluid, uninterrupted articulated body action
• Large Double Hook 4/0 + #2 — the stinger configuration; a primary 4/0 hook at the rear of the fly plus a trailing #2 stinger hook; the stinger is positioned at the very end of the fly’s tail and catches short-striking fish that hit the back third of the fly and miss the primary hook; most effective for redfish, which frequently charge and slash at the tail of a large baitfish fly from the side; also for bass in open water where the longer fly profile attracts aggressive side-strikes from fish tracking the fly at distance; the double hook configuration produces more hookups per follows than single hook in situations with high short-strike frequency
