A Planing Frog for Covering Water

The Invasive Lures King Cobra is a hollow body topwater frog built around a hull-style shape. Its broad head pushes water to the sides as it planes across the surface, creating a wake on a steady retrieve. A stainless steel rear blade adds flash and surface disturbance.

Use it to search grass edges, pad lanes, and openings in vegetation for largemouth bass and snakehead. The soft silicone-latex body compresses under pressure, while the internal weight is integrated with the hook to help balance the presentation.

How to Fish It

Pair the King Cobra with a frog-capable rod and braided line suited to the cover. Cast beyond a grass edge or through an open lane, then begin a steady retrieve fast enough to bring the body onto the surface. Adjust your pace until the lure pushes a consistent wake without losing control.

Mix the steady retrieve with short bursts and pauses around likely holding spots. Work the blade in open water and pockets where vegetation won't foul it; check for grass on the rear blade if the action changes. Over mats, move toward an opening before returning to the planing retrieve.

After a surface strike, wait until you feel the fish load the line before setting the hook firmly. Inspect the body, hook alignment, rear blade, line tie, and knot after fish or cover contact, and let the lure dry before storage.
