Strike King KVD 1.5 Squarebill Crankbait
The Strike King KVD 1.5 is a shallow-running squarebill crankbait developed with input from Kevin VanDam. Its square bill and hunting wobble make it an option for working shoreline rock, wood, docks, and riprap with changes in direction as the bait contacts cover.
At 2.25 inches and 3/8 ounce, it offers a compact moving presentation for largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass. Work it along a cover edge or across a shallow point, using casting angle and retrieve speed to control where it makes contact.

How to Fish It
Use a rod rated for the 3/8-ounce lure and match line, knots, and drag to the setup. Cast beyond the area you want to fish so the bait is swimming before it reaches the target. Treat the 3–6-foot depth as a guide rather than a guaranteed running depth.
Start with a steady retrieve along riprap or beside wood and dock edges. Allow controlled bill contact where there is room for the bait to deflect, but do not force it through branches or gaps in rock. The square bill does not make the exposed hooks snag-proof.
After a deflection, try a brief pause or change in speed before resuming the retrieve. Along grass, keep the bait above the vegetation or in open lanes. Check for debris or a fouled hook if the action changes, and maintain steady pressure while fighting a fish on treble hooks.
Storage and Care
Inspect the bill, body, line tie, hooks, and attachment hardware before use and after hard contact. Dry the lure before storing it in a compartment that limits hook tangles. Match original hook and hardware size and weight as closely as possible when replacing components, then test the action again.
