How to Fish It

Use tackle rated for a 2.65-ounce bait and follow the manufacturer's weighting instructions. Test each configuration in view before casting. Begin with a slow retrieve, mixing occasional pauses and subtle rod sweeps to vary the glide. Adjust the weighting and retrieve to keep the bait above weeds, around forage, or near suitable bottom structure.

Laker Howell pro tip: Match your setup to where fish are positioned. Fish high over weeds and shallow structure, explore a suspending presentation around bait schools, or add weight and slow-roll near the bottom. Vary the retrieve with pauses and gentle rod sweeps.

Check balance and movement after adjustments rather than assuming identical suspension or sink rates in every condition.
