Lew’s MACH 1 Baitcast Reel
The Lew’s MACH 1 Baitcast Reel combines a graphite frame with adjustable casting control for anglers who want to tune their setup to the lure and conditions. Choose right- or left-hand retrieve to match the way you fish.
Its Multi-Setting Brake System lets you adjust casting control, while a 7+1 stainless steel bearing system supports the retrieve. A bowed aluminum handle and oversized Combat Grip paddles give you a comfortable hold as you wind a moving bait or pick up line between presentations.

Setup and Casting
Pair the reel with a casting rod rated for your line and complete lure weight. Check the reel’s spool markings or instructions for line capacity before filling it. Spool under even tension and avoid overfilling.
Begin with a conservative brake setting and set spool tension according to Lew’s instructions. Make short practice casts, feathering the spool with your thumb and stopping it as the lure lands. Reduce braking gradually only when you can control the spool reliably. Recheck your settings when changing lure weight or casting into the wind.
Set the drag to release below the breaking strength of your line and knots. Keep steady pressure during a fight, use the rod to control the fish, and avoid cranking against a slipping drag.
Care and Storage
Wipe the reel clean after use and let it dry before storing. Keep sand and grit away from the spool and braking components. Do not submerge the reel or clean it with a high-pressure spray. Follow Lew’s instructions for lubrication and servicing, and loosen the drag for extended storage.
