Sensitive Tip. Serious Backbone. Built for the Northeast.

The Magictail Inshore Series Rod is engineered specifically for the demanding fluke and tautog fisheries of the Northeast — where you need a sensitive enough tip to feel a tog’s subtle scratch and enough backbone to pull a doormat fluke or trophy white-chin out of heavy structure. Available in four configurations across spinning and conventional, from finesse bucktail weights up to heavy jigging power.

Key Features

  • Carbon Fiber Blank with Extra Carbon Wrap — added hoop strength for pulling big fish out of heavy structure without sacrificing tip sensitivity
  • Sensitive Moderate Action Tip — detects subtle tog bites and light fluke taps before the full commit
  • Ergo Comfort Reel Seat — designed for long hours of fishing with minimal fatigue; paired with thin shrink-wrap grips for maximum sensitivity
  • Oversized K Guides — prevent wind knots and allow bulky leader knots to pass freely during a frantic fight
  • 4 Configurations — 7’0" 1–4oz Spinning | 7’6" 2–6oz Spinning | 7’0" 3–8oz Conventional | 7’6" 4–12oz Conventional

Specs

  • Action: Moderate with sensitive tip
  • Configurations: 7’0" 1–4oz Spinning | 7’6" 2–6oz Spinning | 7’0" 3–8oz Conventional | 7’6" 4–12oz Conventional
  • Target Species: Fluke (summer flounder), tautog (blackfish), striped bass
  • Best Use: Bucktailing, jigging, structure fishing in coastal inlets and wrecks
  • Vendor: Magictail Outfitters

How to Choose

Go with the 7’0" 1–4oz Spinning for finesse bucktailing in calmer water and lighter current. Step up to the 7’6" 2–6oz Spinning when you need to throw heavier bucktails in ripping current or deeper water. The conventional models are built for heavy jigging and structure fishing — the 3–8oz for tog and stripers, the 4–12oz when you’re grinding the wreck in serious current. All four pair perfectly with the Magictail Game Changer Tog Jig — the sensitive tip lets you feel the subtle scratch before a tog commits.
