Mustad 9430-DS 5X Strong Treble Hooks 25-Pack

5X Strong Trebles for Saltwater Lures

The Mustad 9430-DS is a 5X strong treble hook for rigging saltwater lures targeting striped bass and other medium- to big-game fish. Its Durasteel coating helps resist rust during saltwater use.

Each size comes in a 25-pack, giving you hooks for replacing worn trebles or preparing several lures before a trip. Choose the size and weight that suit your lure rather than fitting the largest hook it can carry.

How to Fish It

When replacing a lure's trebles, match the original hook dimensions and weight as closely as practical. Check the lure maker's recommendations and use split rings suited to both the lure and hook. Use split-ring pliers to make the change, keeping your fingers clear of all three points.

Before casting, check that the hook swings freely and does not catch the lure body or another hook. Test the lure beside you to confirm that it still tracks and swims correctly; a change in hook size or weight can alter action and buoyancy.

Inspect hooks and connecting hardware after a fish or contact with rocks. Replace any treble with a bent shank, damaged point, or visible corrosion.

Care

Rinse used hooks with fresh water after saltwater exposure and dry them thoroughly before storage. The coating does not replace regular care. Keep used hooks separate from unused stock and secure exposed points when handling or transporting lures.
