Setting Up Your Combo

Select your preferred retrieve side and secure the reel in the reel seat. Thread line through every guide and choose line within the rod's 8–14 lb rating. Keep the total weight of your presentation, including hooks and added weight, within its 1/4–3/4 oz range.

Load the spool evenly without overfilling, set the drag to suit your line, and adjust the reel's casting controls before fishing. Begin with short practice casts and use your thumb to control the spool as your presentation lands. Recheck the settings when changing lure weight or casting conditions.
