Matt Arey Tournament Series The Juice Casting Rod

The Juice is a 7-foot-4-inch Mag Heavy casting rod from the Pulse Fish Matt Arey Tournament Series. Designed for frogs and swim jigs around heavy cover, it pairs a 50–80 lb braided-line rating with a 1/4–1 oz lure range.

When vegetation calls for a dedicated heavy-cover setup, The Juice keeps the focus on those two presentations. Choose your frog or swim jig within the rod's lure rating, accounting for the weight of any trailer or added hardware.

Setup and Fishing Guidance

Pair the rod with a compatible casting reel and braid within the stated line range. Set drag pressure for the entire setup rather than treating the braid rating as a lifting capacity. Check knots and line frequently after fishing through vegetation or against hard cover.

For hollow-body frogs, work short twitches and pauses along vegetation edges, pockets, and openings. When a fish takes the bait, recover slack and establish contact before setting the hook. Adjust your retrieve cadence to the frog rather than forcing every bait into the same rhythm.

For swim jigs, rig the trailer straight and count its weight toward the 1 oz upper lure limit. Begin with a steady retrieve beside or above vegetation, then vary speed or add a brief rod pulse. Clear grass from the hook and trailer when the bait stops tracking cleanly.

Care

Inspect the blank, guides, and reel seat before each trip. Wipe down the rod after use and dry before storage. Protect the tip during transport, avoid sharply bending it under load, and land fish with a net rather than lifting them by the rod. Do not use the rod to pull free a snagged lure.
