How to Fish It
Walk-the-dog — Cast past the target zone and use a rhythmic rod-tip-down twitch on a semi-slack line to produce a side-to-side walking action across the surface. Vary the cadence — faster in warm water and active fish, slower in cold water or when fish are finicky.
Pop and pause — A sharper upward sweep of the rod causes the cupped nose to pop and spit water, then pause to let the lure sit. Effective when fish are swirling below but not fully committing.
Target species — Striped bass, bluefish, speckled trout, redfish, and snook inshore. Also effective for largemouth bass and pike in freshwater.
