Z-Man ChatterBait JackHammer 1.25 oz Bladed Jig

The Z-Man ChatterBait JackHammer brings quick-start vibration and an erratic swimming action to a heavier 1.25-ounce bladed-jig presentation. Its flat-bottom head pairs with a thin stainless steel blade, giving you the JackHammer design when your tackle and fishing conditions call for more lure weight.

Developed with EverGreen International, this model features a Gamakatsu heavy-wire flipping hook, double-wire trailer keeper, and hand-tied silicone skirt. Choose your color and rig a compatible soft-plastic trailer straight to tailor the profile while leaving the blade and hook gap clear.

How to Fish It

Use a rod rated for the complete rig's weight, including any trailer added to the 1.25-ounce jig. Match your line and tackle to the heavy-wire hook and the cover you're fishing. Thread the trailer straight onto the double-wire keeper, taking care around the wire and hook point, and check that the blade and skirt move freely.

Cast to open water or along cover edges with a clear retrieve path. Allow the jig to reach your chosen depth before beginning a steady swim. Start with a short test retrieve beside you to check alignment and find a speed that keeps the blade vibrating without making the rig roll.

Adjust your countdown and retrieve pace to follow the depth fish are using. Keep the lure moving above bottom obstacles rather than letting it repeatedly bury into them. Try a brief pause or short acceleration, then resume the steady swim while maintaining contact with the lure.

Watch for unexpected slack or sideways line movement during the fall. When you feel the fish, reel into pressure and set the hook with controlled force. If vibration changes, inspect for weeds, debris, or a shifted trailer. The exposed hook can snag, so don't treat the lure as weedless.

Care and Storage

Rinse after use and let the jig dry before storage. Inspect the hook point, blade connection, and double-wire keeper regularly, clearing debris that could restrict movement. Secure the hook in your tackle box and leave the hand-tied skirt loose rather than compressed beneath other lures.
