Z-Man ChatterBait JackHammer 3/8 oz Bladed Jig

The Z-Man ChatterBait JackHammer combines a flat-bottom head with a thin stainless steel blade for quick-start vibration and an erratic swimming action. Designed with EverGreen International, this 3/8-ounce bladed jig has a low-profile head-and-blade combination that helps it deflect off cover.

A hand-tied silicone skirt surrounds a Gamakatsu heavy-wire flipping hook, while a double-wire keeper secures your preferred soft-plastic trailer. Choose Chartreuse/White, Clearwater Shad, or Blueback Herring to build the presentation around the forage and conditions you're fishing.

How to Fish It

Thread a suitably sized soft-plastic trailer straight onto the double-wire keeper, taking care around the wire and hook point. Leave the hook gap open and check that the skirt and blade remain free. Match your tackle to the complete rig's weight, including the trailer, and to the heavy-wire hook.

Begin with a steady swim along vegetation edges, across flats, or beside cover with an open retrieve path. Let the lure reach your chosen depth before winding. Test it beside you to check alignment and find a retrieve speed that maintains blade vibration.

Adjust depth with your countdown, rod angle, and retrieve pace. Add an occasional short acceleration or brief pause, then return to a steady swim. Stay ready after contact with cover, but remember that the deflecting design does not make the exposed hook snag-proof.

Keep contact as the lure falls during pauses. When a fish takes it, reel into pressure and set the hook with controlled force. If the vibration changes, check for weeds, debris, or a trailer that has shifted before casting again.

Care and Storage

Rinse after use and let the jig dry before storing it. Inspect the hook point, blade connection, and double-wire keeper regularly. Clear debris that could restrict movement, secure the hook in your tackle box, and leave the hand-tied skirt loose rather than compressed beneath other lures.
