How to Fish It

Hold the finesse bait beside the hook to locate its exit point, then thread it straight onto the shank and carefully seat it over the welded keeper. Keep the hook gap clear. Check the weedguard's alignment with the hook point and make small adjustments as needed, avoiding repeated sharp bends.

Cast beside brush or wood rather than directly into the thickest obstruction. Let the rig settle on a controlled line, then start with short drags and pauses. When you meet resistance, ease the jig over the obstacle with a small lift instead of pulling harder.

Choose depth and current conditions where the 1/10-ounce head lets you track the rig. Keep the complete rig, including the plastic, within your rod's casting rating. You can also try a slow swim above cover when dragging along bottom leads to repeated hang-ups.

Watch for a twitch, sideways line movement, or unexpected slack during the fall. Reel into contact when you detect a bite and use a controlled hookset. Inspect the guard and straighten the bait after a fish or contact with cover. The weedguard reduces some hook exposure but cannot prevent every snag.
