Z-Man Original ChatterBait 1/2 oz Bladed Jig

The Z-Man Original ChatterBait combines a skirted jig profile with the flash and vibration of a hex-shaped ChatterBlade. Its direct head-to-blade connection produces an erratic swimming action, giving bass anglers a moving-bait presentation they can vary with retrieve speed and trailer choice.

This 1/2-ounce model has a 5/0 needlepoint hook, molded trailer keeper, quick-clip line tie, and EZ Skirt system. Select a skirt and blade color combination for the conditions, then rig your preferred soft-plastic trailer straight to adjust the profile without restricting the blade or hook gap.

How to Fish It

Choose a trailer that fits the hook and thread it straight onto the molded keeper. Leave room in the hook gap and check that the skirt and blade move freely. Match your tackle to the full rig's weight, including any added soft plastic, rather than the jig's weight alone.

Cast along open vegetation edges, across flats, or beside cover with a clear retrieve path. Let the jig reach the depth you want to fish, then start a steady swim. Test it beside you to find a pace that maintains blade vibration and keeps the rig tracking upright.

Control depth with your countdown, rod angle, and retrieve speed. Try a short acceleration or brief pause before returning to a steady retrieve. Keep contact as the lure falls, watching for line movement or a change in pressure that could signal a bite.

Reel into the fish and set the hook with controlled force. If the vibration changes or stops, check for weeds, debris, or a trailer that has twisted on the hook. The exposed hook can catch cover, so work through open lanes rather than treating the lure as snag-proof.

Care and Storage

Rinse after use and let the lure dry before storing it. Check the hook point, quick-clip line tie, and blade connection regularly. Remove debris that could restrict blade movement, secure the hook in your tackle box, and leave the skirt loose rather than compressed beneath other lures.
