The Z-Man RaZor ShadZ gives you two ways to fish its segmented baitfish profile. Thread it onto a ChatterBait as a trailer, or rig it weightless to twitch beneath the surface as a soft jerkbait.

The jointed body moves with a bladed jig, while the forked tail completes the baitfish shape. Buoyant, durable ElaZtech can float at rest on an unweighted hook, depending on hook weight and setup. Made in the USA, each pack includes four 4.5-inch baits. Hooks and bladed jigs are sold separately.

How to Fish It

As a ChatterBait trailer, thread the bait straight onto a compatible hook and keeper, leaving the segmented section and tail free. Make a short test retrieve to check alignment. Start with a steady retrieve, then vary speed and add pauses to change the presentation. Check the combined jig and trailer weight against your rod's casting rating.

For a weightless soft jerkbait, use a compatible 3/0 or 4/0 EWG-style hook and rig the body straight. Test the bait beside the boat or bank, since hook weight and line affect its resting position. Use short twitches followed by slack to let it dart, then pause before the next movement.

Work open lanes near vegetation and cover edges rather than forcing the rig through dense cover. Watch the line during pauses; when it moves unexpectedly or you feel a fish load the rod, reel up slack and set the hook with pressure suited to your rig. Check that the body remains straight after a fish or snag.

Keep the baits in their original packaging, separate from conventional soft plastics and other incompatible materials. Avoid prolonged heat and direct sunlight during storage. Let used baits dry before putting them away, and store the segmented bodies and tails straight.
